My Journey

Kerry Drummond began her training at Murdoch University (WA) in 2000, completing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Honours. Later, she completed her Master’s in Counselling at Murdoch University in 2011.

Kerry is a Level 4 Member of the Australian Counselling Association and a member of the ACA College of Clinical Counsellors and College of Supervisors. She continues her training by engaging in various professional development counselling workshops and courses throughout the year.

Kerry is a Certified Solution Focused Practitioner - Level 3 (CSFP-L3).  She completed this training with the Solution Focused Universe (SFU) in the USA, learning from international experts in SFBT Elliott Connie and Adam Froerer, Cecil Walker and Anna Francis.  She has also completed training with BRIEF London learning from Evan George and Chris Iveson.

Inspired by their teaching, Kerry has continued to engage in extensive training through the SFU, and trained with other Solution Focused experts including Mark McKergow (UK), Jacqui von Cziffra-Bergs (South Africa) and Michael Durrant (Sydney, Australia).  In additional to general counselling supervision, Kerry also engages in specialised SFBT supervision and consultation with Evan George and Anna Francis.

Kerry is a member of the Australasian Solution Focused Association (ASFA) and is Coordinator of the WA SFBT Interest Group (WASFIG) in Perth, Western Australia.

Kerry has worked in a variety of organisations across Perth since 2008, and currently works part time for an Employee Assistance Program.

Since discovering Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in 2019, I have been inspired and mentored by leading Solution Focused practitioners across the world, including Elliott Connie, Dr Adam Froerer, Cecil Walker, Anna Francis from the Solution Focused Universe (SFU), Evan George and Chris Iveson from BRIEF London, Dr Jacqui von Cziffra-Bergs from the Solution Focused Institute of South Africa, Michael Durrant from the Brief Therapy Institute of Sydney, and Dr Jane Tuomola from the Academy of Solution Focused Training in Singapore.  I remain actively engaged in ongoing training and supervision to continually refine and enrich my SFBT practice.

After discovering the benefits of SFBT not just for my clients but for myself as a practitioner as well, my journey has also become a commitment to sharing this respectful, empowering, and vicarious resilience promoting approach with other practitioners to know ‘there is another way’ - a Solution Focused way!  Co-Coordinating WASFIG with my colleague, mentor and friend Steve Runciman over the past five years has been a meaningful way to support the professional growth of mental health practitioners, curious about or committed to Solution Focused practice.
